APPLETON, Wis. — Lawrence University cross country standout Erin Schrobilgen has been named the Midwest Conference Performer of the Week.
Schrobilgen (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park River Forest), a freshman, earned the honor after a stellar performance at the Concordia (Wis.) University Falcon Invitational this past Saturday.
Schrobilgen turned in one of the Midwest Conference’s best times of the season over 6,000 meters as she finished seventh at the Falcon Invitational. Schrobilgen’s effort of 23:06.00 is the third-fastest time this season at that distance. Led by Schrobilgen, the Vikings finished second in the team standings.
This was the first Performer of the Week award for Schrobilgen and the first for Lawrence since the 2013 season when Jonah Laursen and Jamie Brisbois both captured the men’s award. It’s the first time a Lawrence women’s runner took the honor since Emily Muhs did it in Sept. 2010.
Lawrence returns to action on Sept. 27 when it heads to the Roy Griak Invitational at the University of Minnesota.
