APPLETON, Wis. — Lawrence University women’s tennis standout Katie Frankel has been named the Midwest Conference Player of the Week.
Frankel (Deerfield, Ill./Deerfield) picked up the honor after posting a perfect week at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles. Frankel went 6-0 with three wins apiece in singles and doubles.
In a 5-4 win at Knox College on Sept. 9, Frankel won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles and teamed with Lindsay Holsen (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc) for an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles.
In a 9-0 win at Monmouth College on Sept. 10, Frankel won 6-1, 6-2 in singles and was an 8-1 winner in doubles. Frankel then capped her week with two more wins later the same day. In a 9-0 victory at Illinois College, Frankel posted a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles and an 8-2 victory at No. 1 doubles.
The three Midwest Conference victories moved Lawrence to 3-1 in the league and 3-2 overall. Lawrence returns to action on Thursday when it travels to Marian University.
