Big first half leads Lake Forest past Vikings

APPLETON, Wis. — The Lake Forest College men’s soccer team scored five times in the first half Saturday en route to a 7-2 Midwest Conference victory over Lawrence University on Ron Roberts Field at the Banta Bowl.

John Cappuccitti and Osvaldo Lara Soria both scored twice, and Cappuccitti had four assists for the Foresters (6-5-0, 4-0-0 MWC).

Lake Forest led 2-0 when Taylor Reifert converted a penalty kick for the Vikings (3-7-0, 1-3-0) in the 22nd minute to cut the lead in half. Lake Forest responded with three more goals in the next 20 minutes to take control.

Mike Deremo added another goal for Lawrence on a penalty kick late in the second half.

Tero Elias played the first half in goal for Lake Forest and made one save to get the win. Joe Krivit allowed two goals for the Vikings before leaving with an injury.
