Lawrence shoots down Stars 9-0

FOND DU LAC, Wis. — The Lawrence University men’s tennis team rolled to a 9-0 nonconference win over Dominican University on Sunday at Center Court.

The Vikings (10-6) got off to a hot start by dropping only five games en route to sweeping the three doubles matches. Lawrence then won all six singles matches without dropping a set.

Both Jason Dunn at No. 2 singles and Brian DeCorte at No. 4 lost just one game in their singles matches.

Freshman Mitch Kasprzyk picked up his first collegiate singles victory with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Mohit Shekhar at No. 5.

Lawrence tops Carroll 5-4

NEW BERLIN, Wis. — The Lawrence University men’s tennis team topped Carroll University 5-4 on Saturday night in a Midwest Conference North Division match at Moorland Park Tennis Center.

The Vikings swept the doubles and then managed a pair of victories in singles to close out Carroll

The No. 1 doubles team of Jason Dunn and Max Zlevor pulled out a 9-8 win with a 9-7 victory in the tiebreaker. The No. 2 doubles team of Cooper Smith and Jeremy Andereck and the No. 3 team of Craig Sherwood and Brian DeCorte both won 8-5.

Dunn then posted a 6-3, 6-3 victory at No. 2 singles, and Sherwood was a 6-0, 2-6, 6-3 winner at No. 4.

Lawrence snuffs out Prairie Fire

APPLETON, Wis. — The Lawrence University men’s tennis team won a pair of tight doubles matches and then rolled through the singles for an 8-1 nonconference victory over Knox College on Saturday at Fox Cities Racquet Club.

Craig Sherwood and Brian DeCorte rolled to an 8-0 victory at No. 3 doubles for Lawrence (8-6), and then the Vikings won tiebreakers at Nos. 1 and 2 doubles for a 3-0 heading into singles.

Lawrence then posted singles victories by Cooper Smith (No. 1), Jason Dunn (No. 2), Sherwood (No. 4), DeCorte (No. 5) and Jeremy Andereck (No. 6). Andereck pitched a shutout with a 6-0, 6-0 victory.

Vikings shut out Marian

FOND DU LAC, Wis. — The Lawrence University men’s tennis team rolled to a 9-0 shutout victory over Marian University on Sunday at Centre Court.

Lawrence (7-6) didn’t drop a set en route to the victory. The Vikings lost only two games total in the three doubles matches and then rolled through the singles matches.

The Vikings lost only 10 games in the six singles matches. Brian DeCorte was perfect as he posted a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 3. Daniel Anderson picked up his first collegiate victory at No. 5, and Ethan Perushek also got his first college victory after winning at No. 6.

Lawrence’s No. 3 doubles team of Mitch Kasprzyk and Adam Busch also picked up its first college win.

Vikings finish long day with victory over Monmouth

APPLETON, Wis. — It was a long day for the Lawrence University men’s tennis team, but it ended with a 6-3 nonconference victory over Monmouth College on Saturday.

Lawrence started its day by getting up at 4 a.m. in Orlando, Fla., after wrapping up nearly a week of play in the Sunshine State. The Vikings got on a plane, flew back to Milwaukee and arrived in Appleton early this afternoon.

The Vikings (6-6) then rallied for a win over the Scots (5-5) at Fox Cities Racquet Club after dropping two of the three doubles matches. Lawrence got a key victory at No. 3 doubles as Brian DeCorte and Craig Sherwood posted a 9-7 victory.

Lawrence then won five of the six singles matches to complete the victory. Cooper Smith (No. 1), Jason Dunn (No. 2), Sherwood (No. 4), DeCorte (No. 5) and Jeremy Andereck (No. 6) were all victorious.

Lawrence shuts out Loggers

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Lawrence University swept the singles matches on Wednesday and posted a 6-0 nonconference victory over the University of Puget Sound.

The doubles matches were not completed due to rain.

Cooper Smith, Max Zlevor and Craig Sherwood all won in straight sets. Smith beat Graham Baker 6-3, 6-0 at No. 1, Zlevor downed Daniel Deuel 6-2, 7-5 at No. 3 and Sherwood topped Jake Peterson 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4. Jason Dunn won at No. 2, Brian DeCorte was a winner at No. 5 and Jeremy Andereck won at No. 6.

Vikings fall to Calvin 6-3

ORLANDO, Fla. — Calvin College took two of the three doubles matches and went on to a 6-3 nonconference win over Lawrence University on Tuesday.

Lawrence’s one win in the doubles competition came at No. 1 where Jason Dunn and Max Zlevor defeated Preston Phillips and Philip Reinken 8-5.

Zlevor also picked up a victory at No. 3 singles when he defeated Reinken 6-3, 6-7 (5-7), 1-0 (10-4). Lawrence’s other singles victory came at No. 6 when Jeremy Andereck beat Tom Griffin 7-5, 7-5.
