Lawrence doubles up Prairie Fire

GALESBURG, Ill. — The Lawrence University men’s tennis team topped Knox College 6-3 in a nonconference match on Saturday.

Lawrence won at both Nos. 2 and 3 doubles and then swept the top four singles matches to secure the victory.

Jason Dunn (No. 1), Max Zlevor (No. 2), Caleb Ray (No. 3 ) and Cooper Smith (No. 4) were all singles winners for the Vikings.

Vikings shut out Edgewood

The Lawrence University men’s tennis team rolled to a 9-0 nonconference win over Edgewood College on Sunday at the Lawrence Courts.

The Vikings didn’t lose a set en route to the shutout victory. Max Zlevor, playing No. 2 singles for Lawrence, and Caleb Ray, playing No. 3, went one better by not losing a game in a 6-0, 6-0 victories. Lawrence lost no more than four games in any of the six singles matches.

Calvin shuts out Lawrence

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Calvin College men’s tennis team blanked Lawrence University 9-0 on Thursday in a nonconference match.

Lawrence (4-8) took three of the singles matches to a third set but couldn’t come out on top. The Vikings wrapped up their spring break trip to Florida with a 2-3 record.

Bethel tips Lawrence 5-4

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Bethel University men’s tennis team won a pair of super tiebreakers, and that proved to be the difference in a 5-4 nonconference victory over Lawrence University on Monday.

Lawrence won two of the three doubles matches, but Bethel rallied to win four of the six singles matches to take the victory. Caleb Ray won for Lawrence at No. 3 singles, and Shota Nakada took his first career singles win at No. 6 with a 7-5, 6-1 victory over Nicholaus Sundholm.

Vikings edge North Central 5-4

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Lawrence University men’s tennis team topped North Central (Ill.) College 5-4 in a nonconference match on Monday.

Lawrence (4-6) won only one doubles match, but the Vikings took four of the six singles matches to notch the victory. Lawrence swept the top three singles matches with Jason Dunn (No. 1), Max Zlevor (No. 2) and Caleb Ray (No. 3) all earning wins. Jeremy Andereck picked up Lawrence’s other singles victory at No. 5.

Dunn and Zlevor also won at No. 1 doubles.

Vikings pummel Staten Island in spring break opener

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Lawrence University men’s tennis team pummeled CUNY-Staten Island 8-1 in a nonconference match Saturday.

In the opening match of their spring break trip, the Vikings’ only loss came on an injury default.

Lawrence won all three doubles matches and all but one of the Vikings’ singles victories came in straight sets. Both Craig Sherwood at No. 5 singles and Jeremy Andereck at No. 6 won 6-0, 6-0.
