Bucs down Lawrence 7-2

APPLETON, Wis. — The Beloit College women’s tennis team won a tight doubles match and two three-set singles matches to post a 7-2 Midwest Conference North Division match over Lawrence University on Sunday.

The Bucs (7-7, 2-2 MWC North) won 9-7 at No. 1 doubles and then won three-set matches at No. 4 and No. 6 singles to earn the victory.

Gayatri Malhotra and Polly Dalton were 8-6 winners for Lawrence (7-8, 1-2) at No. 2 doubles, and Melissa Heeren won 6-4, 6-1 at No. 5 singles.

Carroll tops Vikings 6-3

APPLETON, Wis. — The Carroll University women’s tennis team swept the doubles matches Saturday and went on to a 6-3 Midwest Conference North Division victory over Lawrence University at Fox Cities Racquet Club.

The Vikings (7-7, 1-1 MWC) split the six singles matches. Hannah Geoffrey (No. 2), Katie Frankel (No. 4) and Polly Dalton (No. 5) all won for Lawrence.

Weather forces changes to women’s tennis, men’s and women’s soccer on Saturday

APPLETON, Wis. — Rain in the Fox Cities has forced some changes to Saturday’s Lawrence University’s athletic schedule.

The women’s tennis match vs. Carroll University has been moved to noon at the Fox Cities Racquet Club.

The men’s and women’s soccer matches vs. Carroll have been rescheduled for Sunday at a site to be determined. The women’s match will be at noon, and the men will play at 2 p.m. As soon as a site has been determined, the schedule and this story will be updated.

Grinnell tops Vikings

MADISON, Wis. — The Grinnell College women’s tennis team posted an 8-1 nonconference victory over Lawrence University on Sunday.

Lawrence’s lone victory on the day came at No. 6 singles where Melissa Heeren defeated Briannah Wilson 7-6, 6-1.

Vikings soar past UW-River Falls

APPLETON, Wis. — The Lawrence University women’s tennis team rolled to an 8-1 nonconference victory over UW-River Falls on Saturday at the Lawrence Courts.

Lawrence (7-5) swept the doubles matches and then took the top five singles matches.

The Vikings got the day started with three wins in doubles as Hannah Geoffrey and Ali Heiring won at No. 1, Polly Dalton and Gayatri Malhotra won at No. 2 and Katie Frankel and Allison Juda won at No. 3.

Malhotra (No. 1), Geoffrey (No. 2), Heiring (No. 3), Frankel (No. 4) and Dalton (No. 5) all won in singles. Frankel, a freshman playing her first collegiate singles match, picked her first career singles victory.

UW-Oshkosh tops Vikings 6-3

APPLETON, Wis. — The UW-Oshkosh women’s tennis team swept the doubles match and that pushed the Titans to a 6-3 nonconference win over Lawrence University on Tuesday at the Lawrence Courts.

After dropping the three doubles matches, Lawrence bounced back to split the singles. Lawrence’s Hannah Geoffrey was a 7-5, 7-6 winner over Brianna Theobald at No. 2. Melissa Heeren downed Oshkosh’s Llora Waldman 1-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-8) at No. 5, and Allison Juda topped the Titans’ Andrea Larson 6-4, 6-4 at No. 6.

Lawrence takes down Prairie Fire 7-2

GALESBURG, Ill. — The Lawrence University women’s tennis team swept the doubles matches and rolled on to a 7-2 nonconference win over Knox College on Saturday.

Lawrence (6-4) posted three impressive wins in doubles, dropping only two games total in the three matches. Gayatri Malhotra and Polly Dalton were 8-0 winners at No. 2 for the Vikings.

Lawrence then got singles wins from Hannah Geoffrey (No. 2), Melissa Heeren (No. 4), Allison Juda (No. 5) and Brenna Decker (No. 6).

Vikings roll to shutout win over Monmouth

MONMOUTH, Ill. —  The Lawrence University women’s tennis team pounded Monmouth College 9-0 on Saturday in a nonconference match.

Lawrence (5-4) did not drop a set and lost a total of only 10 games in the nine matches.

The Vikings started the day by sweeping the three doubles matches, highlighted by the 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles by Elena Watson and Allison Juda.

The Vikings recorded a pair of 6-0, 6-0 victories in singles, with Melissa Heeren (No. 4) and Brenna Decker (No. 6) doing the honors.

Vikings continue mastery of Ripon

RIPON, Wis. — The Lawrence University women’s tennis team rolled to an 8-1 Midwest Conference North Division over Ripon College on Wednesday at the Larson Courts.

Lawrence (4-4, 1-0 MWC) dropped only two games en route to sweeping the three doubles matches and then took five of the six singles matches.

Lawrence was especially impressive in the final four singles matches. Polly Dalton (No. 3), Melissa Heeren (No. 4) and Brenna Decker (No. 6) all posted 6-0, 6-0 victories, and Allison Juda was a 6-0, 6-1 winner at No. 5. Hannah Geoffrey also won at No. 2 singles for the Vikings.

Lawrence pushed its win streak against Ripon (1-6, 0-2) to 10 consecutive matches.

Lawrence (3-4) swept the doubles matches and took five of the six singles contests.

The Vikings had a pair of shutouts in doubles, with Ali Heiring and Hannah Geoffrey winning 8-0 at No. 1 and Allison Juda and Cathryn Wood doing the same at No. 3.

Elana Lambert highlighted the singles victories with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6. Gayatri Malhotra (No. 1), Dalton (No. 2), Juda (No. 4) and Brenna Decker (No. 5) were also winners in singles for the Vikings.
