Goal in first minute lifts Knox past Lawrence

APPLETON, Wis. — A goal just 23 seconds into the match on Sunday proved to be the difference as the Knox College men’s soccer team topped Lawrence University 1-0 in a Midwest Conference game at Whiting Field West.

Nathaniel Logie’s bending shot found the left corner of the net to give Knox the lead in the opening minute. That would be it for the scoring in a hard-fought match. Knox (9-2-0, 4-0-0 MWC) had nine shots, and Lawrence (1-8-2, 1-3-1) had seven shots.

Joe Krivit made six saves for the Vikings, and Sean Dockrell stopped three shots for the Prairie Fire.

Knox was forced to play most of the second half down one man as Jacob Polay was issued a red card in the 51st minute. Knox collected three other yellow cards. Lawrence received a pair of yellow cards.
