MADISON, Wis. — Mike Deremo and Taylor Reifert scored two goals apiece Wednesday to lead the Lawrence University men’s soccer team to a 6-0 nonconference rout of Edgewood College at Breese Stevens Field.
Reifert got things started in the 26th minute with his first goal of the season. The score remained 1-0 until the fifth minute of the second half when Deremo scored off a pass from Robert Desotelle at 49:35 to make it 2-0.
Reifert then scored off a free kick at the 60:06 mark to put the Vikings (2-3-0) up 3-0. Keanan Wilson then scored off a pass from Deremo in the 77th minute, and Lawrence led 4-0.
The Vikings then tacked on two more goals in the final seven minutes. Jack Blodgett scored off an assist from Wilson at 83:39, and Deremo added another goal with just 17 seconds left off an assist from Blodgett for the final margin.
Lawrence goalkeeper Joe Krivit made four saves to earn his second shutout of the season. Lawrence posted a 19-11 edge in shots.
The six goals is the most scored by any team in the 19 games in this series, which dates to 1991. It’s also the largest margin of victory ever in the series, and the previous high was four goals by Edgewood (3-3-0).
