Desotelle, Berger help Vikings roll past Illinois College

APPLETON, Wis. — Four different Lawrence University players scored Sunday to lead the Vikings to a 4-1 Midwest Conference victory over Illinois College on Ron Roberts Field at the Banta Bowl.

Robert Desotelle, Keanan Wilson, Jack Blodgett and Lewis Berger all scored for Lawrence (3-5-0, 1-1-0 MWC). Desotelle and Berger also had assists for the Vikings.

Desotelle got things started with his goal at the 19:21 mark. Working off assists from Taylor Reifert and Chris Kiehl, Desotelle beat goalkeeper Ty Clearwater for a 1-0 advantage.

Wilson made it 2-0 with just under six minutes left in the first half when he took a crossing pass from Desotelle and scored.

The Vikings then scored a pair of goals off corner kicks in the second half.

Mike Deremo took a corner for the Vikings, which was headed back to the goal mouth by Lewis Berger. Blodgett followed with another header for the goal and the Vikings led 3-0 at the 68:28 mark.

Berger then picked up the final goal for the Vikings after Deremo played another corner kick into the box. There was a scramble for the ball and it was pushed away from the goal by an Illinois College defender. Berger was right there and hammered it into the goal for a 4-0 lead.

Ryan May got Illinois College (1-5-2, 0-2-0) on the board with an unassisted goal with 2:04 left.

Joe Krivit made six saves to pick up the win for the Vikings. Ty Clearwater stopped three shots for the Blueboys.
