Dannecker, Karlsson pace Vikings at Eastbay Invitational

STEVENS POINT, Wis. — Katherine Dannecker and Elin Karlson both recorded fifth-place finishes to pace the Lawrence University track teams on Saturday at the UW-Stevens Point Eastbay Invitational.

Dannecker grabbed fifth in the one-mile run with a time of 5:40.55. Karlson was fifth in the 5,000 meters with a time of 19:32.55. In the same event, Kristen Bishel raced to seventh place and Liz Landes was ninth.

On the men’s side, the 800-meter relay team of Dalton Sendelbach, Tyler Lueck, Bjorn Gowdy-Jaehnig and Eddie Rueda placed sixth in 1:40.21.

Bartes breaks school record in weight throw

STEVENS POINT, Wis. — Lawrence University senior Brielle Bartes broke her own school record in the weight throw on Saturday at the UW-Stevens Point Invitational.

Bartes, who had the record at 38 feet, 10.5 inches, set the new mark of 40-8.25 (12.40 meters).

The top finish on the women’s side came from the 800-meter relay team, which took second in 1:55.79. Elin Karlson and Clare Bruning had the top individual finishes as they took fourth and sixth, respectively, in the 3,000.

On the men’s side, the 800 relay team also grabbed second place with a time of 1:36.01. Wes Hetcher grabbed fifth place in the triple jump with a leap of 11.05 meters. Kyle Dockery ran to fifth in the 3,000 and teammate Jamie Brisbois finished sixth.

Karlsson grabs second-place finish to pace Vikings at UW-Stout

MENOMONIE, Wis. — Elin Karlsson was the top finisher on Saturday for the Lawrence University track team at the Warren Bowlus Open at UW-Stout.

Karlsson grabbed second place in the 5,000 meters as she finished in 19:44.75. Karlsson led a strong group of Lawrence finishers in the event as Clare Bruning took third, Liz Landes as fourth and Anna Ratliff placed fifth.

Also among the women, Kate Kilgus took fourth in the 800 in 2:31.90 and Amy Hutchings was fifth. Katherine Dannecker placed fifth in the mile in 5:39.82.

On the men’s side, Mike Mangian was the top finisher as he placed fourth in the 800 in 2:02.43. Tyler Herman grabbed fifth in the 400 in 52.18 seconds.

Bartes breaks school record in weight throw

OSHKOSH, Wis. — The Lawrence University track teams kicked off their indoor season on Saturday with a dual meet at UW-Oshkosh, and Brielle Bartes broke the school record in the weight throw.

Bartes set the record of 38 feet, 10.5 inches, just a short time after Genna Matt had established a new school record of 38-4.

The top finisher on the day for the Vikings was JP Ranumas, who won the 60-meter hurdles in 8.85 seconds. Other top finishers for the Vikings were Elin Karlsson, who took second in the 3,000 meters in 11:20.32, and Cam Davies, who was second in the men’s 3,000 in 9:18.97.

Lawrence student-athletes named to Academic All-Midwest Conference team

APPLETON, Wis. — More than 100 Lawrence University student-athletes have been chosen for the Academic All-Midwest Conference team.

Lawrence had 133 student-athletes earn the academic all-conference honor, which is given after having a grade point average of 3.33 during that academic year.

The Lawrence women’s swimming and diving team had the largest numbers of honorees with 12. Women’s tennis and women’s indoor track both had 11 and volleyball and women’s outdoor track both had 10.
