Vikings double up Marian

APPLETON, Wis. — The Lawrence University women’s tennis team swept the doubles matches Wednesday and went on to a 6-3 nonconference win over Marian University at the Lawrence Courts.

The Vikings (6-5) rolled through the first two doubles matches as Katie Frankel and Lilly Endsley won 8-1 at No. 1 and Elana Lambert and Lindsay Holsen were 8-3 winners at No. 3. Annie Harincar and Katie Nottberg posted an 8-6 win for the Vikings at No. 3.

Lawrence also picked up three singles victories, led by Endsley, who posted a 6-1, 6-1 win over Alissa Heid at No. 2. Holsen won 7-5, 6-0 at No. 3 and Lambert was a 6-2, 6-4 winner at No. 3.

Endsley’s singles win lifts Vikings past UW-Oshkosh

APPLETON, Wis. — Lilly Endsley’s singles victory lifted the Lawrence University women’s tennis team to a 5-4 nonconference win over UW-Oshkosh on Sunday at the Lawrence Courts.

With the match tied at 4-4, Endsley defeated Paige Ganser 6-3, 6-3 to give Lawrence (5-5) the victory.

Lawrence dug itself a hole by winning just one of the three doubles matches. Endsley and Katie Frankel were 8-4 winners at No. 1 doubles, but the Vikings trailed 2-1 heading into the singles.

In addition to Annie Harincar’s 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 5 singles, the Vikings won a pair of super-tiebreakers to help pull out the victory. Lawrence’s Lindsay Holsen posted a 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (10-5) win at No. 3, and El Goblirsch picked up a 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-5) win at No. 6. Those wins evened the match at 4-4 and set up Endsley’s clinching victory.

It was the first win for Lawrence head coach Steve Francour over his alma mater, a team he coached for 23 seasons. Francour is a 1988 graduate of UW-Oshkosh and took over the Lawrence tennis programs in July 2013.

St. Norbert downs Vikings

APPLETON, Wis. — The St. Norbert College women’s tennis team remained unbeaten in Midwest Conference play with an 8-1 victory over Lawrence University on Sunday at the Lawrence Courts.

The Green Knights improved to 5-0 in the league at 6-2 overall. The Vikings fell to 4-5, 2-3 in the MWC.

Lawrence’s lone victory in the match came at No. 1 doubles where Katie Frankel and Lilly Endsley needed a tiebreaker to get the win. Frankel and Endsley won the match 9-8 after taking the tiebreakers from Erika Chitko and Katherine Ake 8-6.

Foresters topple Lawrence

APPLETON, Wis. — The Lake Forest College women’s tennis team downed Lawrence University 7-2 in a Midwest Conference match on Sunday at the Lawrence Courts.

The Foresters (5-1, 3-1 MWC) started the day by sweeping the doubles and then took the top four singles matches.

Alicia Lex won posted an impressive win at No. 5 singles and El Goblirsch won in straight sets at No. 6 for the Vikings (4-4, 2-2).

Lawrence dumps Bucs

APPLETON, Wis. — The Lawrence University women’s tennis team won the Nos. 3-6 singles matches and cruised to a 6-3 Midwest Conference victory over Beloit College on Saturday at the Lawrence Courts.

Lawrence (4-3, 2-1 MWC) took a 2-1 lead after the doubles as the No. 1 team of Katie Frankel and Lindsay Holsen and the No. 3 team of Shang Li and Alicia Lex were both winners.

Elana Lambert, Annie Harincar, Katie Nottberg and El Goblirsch all won in straight sets in singles to secure the victory for the Vikings.

Beloit falls to 1-6, 0-3 in the league.

Carroll tops Vikings

APPLETON, Wis. — The Carroll University women’s tennis team topped Lawrence University 7-2 in a Midwest Conference match on Saturday at the Lawrence Courts.

Top singles player Katie Frankel was unbeaten for the Vikings (3-3, 1-1 MWC) on the day. Frankel teamed with Lilly Endsley for an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles, and Frankel followed that with a 1-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-8) victory over Megan Krzewinski at No. 1 singles.

Carroll improved to 4-1 and 1-0 in the Midwest Conference.

Vikings continue dominance of Ripon on the courts

RIPON, Wis. — The Lawrence University women’s tennis team continued its dominance of rival Ripon College on Thursday with a 6-3 victory over the Red Hawks in the Midwest Conference opener on the Larson Courts.

Lawrence (3-2, 1-0 MWC) has now beaten Ripon (1-3, 0-1) 12 consecutive times, a streak that dates back to 2004.

The Vikings swept the three doubles matches as the teams of Katie Frankel and Lilly Endsley, Lindsay Holsen and Annie Harincar and Elana Lambert and Katie Nottberg all won 8-4.

Frankel, Lawrence’s top singles player, took the rest of the afternoon off, but the Vikings still split the singles matches. Holsen led the way in singles with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 2. Lambert was a three-set winner at No. 3 and Shang Li won in straight sets at No. 6.

MENOMONIE, Wis. — The Lawrence University women’s tennis team won the top four singles matches and rolled to a 6-3 nonconference win over UW-Stout on Saturday.

Katie Frankel (No. 1), Lilly Endsley (No. 2), Lindsay Holsen (No. 3) and Elana Lambert (No. 4) all picked up singles victories for the Vikings.

Frankel and Endsley teamed up for a victory at No. 1 doubles, and Lambert and Katie Nottberg were winners at No. 3 doubles for Lawrence (2-1).

Vikings double up Dubuque

MENOMONIE, Wis. — The Lawrence University women’s tennis team picked up its first win of the season with a 6-3 nonconference victory over the University of Dubuque on Saturday at UW-Stout.

Lawrence (1-1) won two of the three doubles matches and took four singles matches.

Lawrence’s Lilly Endsley and El Goblirsch both picked up their first career singles victories for the Vikings. Endsley won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 and Goblirsch won 7-6, 6-3 at No. 6.

Lawrence’s Annie Harincar teamed with Lindsay Holsen at No. 2 double for her first career victory as well.
