Schuster paces Vikings on opening day at St. Norbert

WRIGHTSTOWN, Wis. — Nigel Schuster is tied for eighth place to lead Lawrence University golfers after Saturday’s opening round of the St. Norbert College Invitational.

Schuster carded a round of 77, 6-over par on the par-71 layout at Royal St. Patrick’s Golf Links. Carthage College’s Ryan McGuire shot an opening-round 68 to take the lead.

The tournament concludes on Sunday.

The Vikings are in ninth place with a team score of 335. St. Norbert leads the tournament with a score of 302.

Schuster paces Vikings at Wisconsin Lutheran Invitational

WAUKESHA, Wis. — Nigel Schuster tied for 16th place on Saturday to lead the Lawrence University golf team at the Wisconsin Lutheran College Invitational.

Schuster carded a 6-over par 78 on the par-72 layout at Moringstar Golfers Club. Led by Schuster, the Vikings carded a team score of 335 to take ninth place.

Edgewood College and Wisconsin Lutheran tied for the title at 303.

Olsson, Pino lead Vikings at Wisconsin Lutheran Invitational

HARTFORD, Wis. — Anton Olsson and Rudi Pino tied for 16th place to lead the Lawrence University golf team at the Wisconsin Lutheran Invitational, which wrapped up on Monday.

Olsson and Pino both shot 153 in the 36-hole event at the Washington County Golf Course.

Olsson carded rounds of 75 and 78 on the par-72 layout. Pino shot 78 in the first round on Sunday and finished with a 75 on Monday.

Lawrence had a team score of 655 and finished 15th. Edgewood College won the event with a team score of 594.

Olsson paces Vikings at UWEC Invitational

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — Anton Olsson tied for 16th place to lead the Lawrence University golf team at the UW-Eau Claire Blugold Invitational.

The Vikings finished 14th in the 36-hole event with a team score of 665. The Vikings carded rounds of 338 and 327.

Olsson fired rounds of 77 and 76 on the par-71 layout at the Eau Claire Country Club. His total of 153 was 11 shots off the winning total of Andrew Peter of Luther College.

Rudi Pino was the other top finisher for the Vikings. Pino posted two rounds of 78 for a total of 156, and he tied for 30th place.

Lawrence student-athletes named to Academic All-Midwest Conference team

APPLETON, Wis. — More than 100 Lawrence University student-athletes have been chosen for the Academic All-Midwest Conference team.

Lawrence had 133 student-athletes earn the academic all-conference honor, which is given after having a grade point average of 3.33 during that academic year.

The Lawrence women’s swimming and diving team had the largest numbers of honorees with 12. Women’s tennis and women’s indoor track both had 11 and volleyball and women’s outdoor track both had 10.

Vikings finish fourth at MWC Championships, Pino earns all-conference honors

ROCKFORD, Ill. — The Lawrence University golf team turned in its best round of the Midwest Conference Championships on Saturday and tied for fourth place.

Lawrence carded a team score of 327 in Saturday’s third round at the par-72 Aldeen Golf Club and finished with a team score of 824. The Vikings make up nine shots in the final round to pull into a fourth-place tie with Grinnell College. The fourth-place finish was the best for Lawrence since the Vikings took fourth back in 2008.

Freshman Rudi Pino also had his best round of the championships when he carded a 77 on Saturday. Pino finished with a 45-hole score of 198 to tie for eighth place. By virtue of his top-10 finish, Pino earned a spot on the all-conference team.

Anton Olsson shot 86 in the final round and finished tied for 17th at 205. Michael Vaubel shot a solid 79 on Saturday and finished tied for 19th at 206. Tyler Clark fired an 85 in the final round and finished 24th at 215. Fabian Sivnert shot 101 in the final round and finished 37th at 234.

St. Norbert College won the team title with a score of 783, and the Green Knights’ Nic Vrubley won the title with a score of 188.

Olsson leads Vikings as second round of MWC Championships trimmed to nine holes

ROCKFORD, Ill. — Friday’s second round of the Midwest Conference Championships was limited to only nine holes due to rain but the Lawrence University golf team maintained fifth place in the team standings.

The Vikings completed the first round on the par-72 layout at Aldeen Golf Club on Friday morning after they were halted by darkness on Thursday evening. Lawrence carded a team score of 333 in the first round and followed that with 164 in the nine-hole second round for a total of 497.

Sophomore Anton Olsson leads the Vikings after carding rounds of 81 and 38 and is tied for ninth place at 119. Freshman Rudi Pino shot 39 in the second round to go with his 82 in the first round and is in 16th place at 121.

Michael Vaubel posted rounds of 84 and 43 and is tied for 23rd place. Tyler Clark is in 26th place after rounds of 86 and 44 for a total of 130. Fabian Sivnert rounds out the team and is tied for 28th place at 133 after rounds of 88 and 45.

St. Norbert College is in first place with a team score of 470, and the Green Knights’ Nic Vrubley leads the tournament with a score of 113.

The championships conclude with an 18-hole third round on Saturday.

Vikings in fifth place after opening round of MWC Championships

ROCKFORD, Ill. — The Lawrence University golf team is in fifth place after the opening round of the Midwest Conference Championships at Aldeen Golf Club.

Lawrence finished the first round on Friday morning after they were stopped by darkness on Thursday evening.

The Vikings carded a team score of 333 0n the par-72 layout. St. Norbert College is in first place with a score of 311.

Lawrence’s top score on Thursday was an 81 by Anton Olsson, who is tied for 15th place. Rudi Pino shot an 82 and is tied for 17th place.

Michael Vaubel is tied for 23rd after shooting 84, Tyler Clark is in 27th after shooting an 85 and Fabian Sivnert is 29th after shooting 88.

The second round is scheduled to be completed on Friday, and the final round is set for Saturday.

Olsson and Pino both finished with a 36-hole score of 155 on the par-72 layout at Royal St. Patrick’s Golf Links. Olsson carded rounds of 79 and 76 and Pino shot 80 and 75.

Lawrence finished with team scores of 334 and 317 to finish at 651, which was good for sixth place.

Michael Vaubel finished tied for 31st at 170, and Fabian Sivnert was tied for 35th at 174.
