On Thursday, September 17, 2009 (Constitution Day), Lawrence University will join in the national commemoration of the adoption of the Constitution of the United States (on September 17, 1787). As part of this celebration, the college has created a web site with links to information on the Constitution, its creation, and its relevance today.

Items in the exhibit include various facts about the Constitution, a copy of what the Constitution looked like in its handwritten form, a selection of books about the Constitution from the library’s collection, and the availability of the Constitution in various languages. “The Founding of Lawrence University” article in Voyageur magazine

The Summer/Fall 2009 issue of Voyageur magazine features an article on the founding of Lawrence, written by University Archivist Julia Stringfellow with assistance from LU history professor Jerald Podair. The article includes pictures of the first graduating class of 1857 and other early pictures of Lawrence. A copy of the magazine is available on Level A of the library and in the Archives on Level B.

The Mudd Goes to the Dogs

The Mudd hosted a Canine Therapy Study Break on Tuesday, June 9. Eight dogs and several dozen students got together for a mutually-fulfilling hour of fun and dog treats. Photos of the event are available on the Library’s Flickr site.

Comments from the participants:
“The event was truly enjoyable for all. Thank you so much for making this happen!!”

“Thank you again for organizing the “canine therapy” today! Such a wonderful event– nothing like dogs to remind us not to take ourselves too seriously.”

“Woof! Woof!”

LU CDs

Today’s CD pile features the many and varied talents of Lawrence University’s students and faculty. We have student and faculty performers, student ensembles, faculty composers, a passel of visiting artists, a visiting composer and a premiere commercial CD. As always, this is the place to be for ALL kinds of music.
