Survey Results # 32: So Long, Farewell…

Perhaps you’ve heard that change is a part of life. As much as we would sometimes prefer to dig our heels in, put on the brakes, or linger a while exactly where we are…change happens. We can only imagine that right now lots of emotions are rolling through you. Excitement, fear, anxiety, joy, and oh so many other emotions that cannot always be named.

To honor the upcoming change you’re about to experience, we asked what you might miss about home…this is what you said…

My parents

Cooking with Dad

The mountains, the warmth, and knowing everybody

My cat, he can’t talk on the phone

My sister

Being spoiled by my parents

My friends and family, Finnish parks and sausages

Home cooked meals…mac ‘n cheese here I come!

The food (and yes, of course, my family too)

Survey # 29: So what’s your favorite television show?

Believe it or not, television can be a bonding activity in college. We still have very strong memories of a few television shows we discovered friends through in college. There are common ones, The Bachelor, Packer games (sorry, this is Wisconsin we’re living in), and who could forget Cheers? There are also the uncommon shows that truly drew us to the kind of friends we’ve stayed connected to for the rest our lives.

From what we can tell, it looks as though many of you have already found a bond over favorite television shows or even lack of any kind of interest in television. The top response we received was, “I don’t watch TV” (though one of these individuals was concerned if this was okay, “is that sad?” he asked, we think it’s perfectly fine – to each his/her own!).

Following closely behind were The Office and House (each show received 12 votes!). We cannot forget the few shows that fell behind the top two shows, though these only received 4 or 5 votes each. They include: America’s Next Top Model, Arrested Development, Grey’s Anatomy, So You Think You Can Dance, and Gossip Girls.

Let the bonding begin!

Survey #23: Movie Favorites

You can tell a lot about people when you find out about their favorite movies. Do they have a Tommy Boy sense of humor or a Monty Python and the Holy Grail sense of humor? Do they prefer the tearjerker Steel Magnolias or the action-packed flick The Dark Knight (and did they laugh during Steel Magnolias?).

The top three movies from our survey of your class are as follows: Pride and Prejudice, The Princess Bride (a classic), and Pirates of the Caribbean.

There were a few other movies that weren’t too far behind, these were: Slumdog Millionaire, anything Harry Potter, Casablanca, and Star Wars.

Some of you found this question too difficult. One person said, “Of all time? There are too many.”

Hopefully you’ll all get a few more movies watched before the summer is over–soon there will be lots of Lawrence activities to keep you occupied and books to be studied.

Alphabet Soup: Survey Results # 20

When we asked what your favorite letter was I’m not sure we knew quite what we were thinking (or if the song from the alphabet soup commercial somehow got stuck in our heads around that time) but it was fantastic learning what you thought!

Your collective favorite letter is?

S!

With A a close second.

Just for grins we thought we’d determine what your least favorite letter was.

Survey says…

P!

With no other letter near by.
