LU Alumni Travel group to explore sites of Civil Rights movement

The deadline is drawing near for a December trip hosted by Lawrence University Alumni Travel to explore sites that were significant in the Civil Rights fight.

The tour of Civil Rights sites in the Deep South will take place Dec. 5-12, led by Freedom Lifted. Kimberly Barrett, vice president for diversity and inclusion and associate dean of the faculty at Lawrence, and Timothy Ann Burnside, a 2002 Lawrence alum who is the museum specialist in curatorial affairs at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of African American History and Culture, will be on the tour.

The deadline for registering is Sept. 12.

Freedom Lifted tours provide opportunities to meet with Civil Rights movement veterans and local experts and visit important spaces.

The fee is $2,500 per person, with departure from Memphis. For details, contact Mark Breseman at 920-832-6519 or mark.d.breseman@lawrence.edu
