Summer adult songwriting class

Saturdays | June 3, 10, 17, 24 | 9-10 a.m.
Lawrence Community Music School – Room 14
Fee | $75

Experience the artistry of songwriting with Loren Dempster!

Songwriting is a transformative creative experience to express truths, emotions, perspectives, and personality through words and music. By taking some time and space to explore your creative voice, you will be able to write songs that will foster a deeper connection to yourself and the world around you.

In this 4-week summer session, we’ll work individually and collaboratively to write songs and make music. While it is not necessary, please consider bringing some kind of chordal instrument like a guitar or ukulele and a way to write lyrics. There will be keyboards on site that are available to us.

Academy of Music Name Change

The Academy of Music, serving youth and adults in the Fox Valley, will now be known as the Lawrence Community Music School. This designation clarifies the school’s role in our wider community, eliminates confusion between the Academy and the Conservatory, and better represents the school’s welcoming, inclusive environment.

EAP Topic: Adapting to Change

As part of the Employee Assistance Program, our provider ERC will present a session on the topic Adapting to Change.

When: Wednesday, March 4, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Where: Warch Campus Center – Cinema

Synopsis:
Change is everywhere. Our health, family, or work environment are all potential areas where change happens. This change can dramatically influence how we cope day in, day out. At times it seems other people can handle change well and we ask ourselves, how are they able to handle it all? Through this session attendees will learn key strategies for understanding the response to change and fundamental ingredients necessary to effectively manage change.

Presenter:

Nancy Krueger, MA, LPC

Nancy has a rich and varied career, starting with her graduation from Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa, with a bachelor’s degree in religious issues and her subsequent Master of Divinity degree from Yale University. Nancy then worked for a rural county newspaper in Lancaster, Wisconsin, before moving to Milwaukee and taking another master’s degree, this time in industrial and labor relations. Nancy served as the personnel coordinator for Juneau County and later worked as parish pastor at a seminary in Dubuque, Iowa. She earned a third master’s degree from Lakeland College in Sheboygan, this time in counseling. Nancy worked at The Samaritan Counseling Center of the Fox Valley before joining ERC in 2015.
