Multiple Career Service events next week

Thanks to collaboration with alumni and friends of the university, Career Services has a variety of events coming up next week.  These events range from conservation/land and water resource management to business/consulting to government.

Please encourage students to use these events with Northwest Youth Corps, The Boldt CompanyU.S. Department of State and Optum to explore current internship and job openings by attending info sessions and/or 1:1 chats.

Seniors: Support, Strategies and Success (S4)–”Getting Started”

Join Career Services for Seniors: Support, Strategies and Success (S4) every Tuesday.  S4 will provide you the tools to promote your skills, create quality application materials, build your personal brand and more!

Each session will be from 11:10 a.m. to noon in the Runkel Room in the Warch Campus Center. The first session on Jan. 17 is Getting Started. Not sure where to begin after you graduate? Plan your life after Lawrence by defining your career objectives. We’ll also share effective job search tips!

Before starting your internship search process, attend Internships 101 on Jan. 10 at 11 a.m. to learn about support, search techniques and tools available to start your internship search. Additional sessions will be held Jan. 24, Feb. 1 and Feb. 13.

New this term! Career Services will be in the Conservatory lobby every Wednesday from 3–4:30 p.m. for quick questions about résumés, cover letters, interviewing and other career-related topics. No appointment needed!

Career Services has drop-in hours daily.

Audition for the United States Marine Corps Band!

Did you know Career Services can come to your class and deliver concise and relevant career development information to your students? In recent weeks, we’ve visited music, biology, chemistry and history classes. We are eager to visit your classroom!

Our on-demand presentations can be customized to the needs of your specific class, but some of our more popular topics include resume and cover letter writing, interviewing, networking, LinkedIn and searching for internships.

D-Term internship opportunity in Chicago

A last-minute D-Term internship has opened up in Chicago with consulting firm Productive Strategies. You will work closely with consultants on a wide variety of clients and prospects. You will also assist with managing databases, conducting research, writing proposals and client reports, and attending prospect and client meetings. You’ll get the “inside view” of how business is done!

Juniors and seniors who have an interest in business should apply for this internship. Dependable access to a vehicle is required.
