Auditions for Fred Gaines Student Playwrights Series

Tuesday, Jan. 7 | 7-9:30 p.m.
Cloak Theatre

The 7th Biennial Fred Gaines Student Playwrights Series features 3 one-act plays with 10 roles for actors!

  • This Isn’t How It Happens by Shira Honovich
  • The House on the Hill by Maddie Guest
  • Static Cling by Nina Broberg

Audition Requirements

  • 2 contrasting modern monologues, 3 minutes total
    • We will have pre-selected monologues for first-time auditioners.

Callbacks

Callbacks will continue on Wednesday, Jan. 8 and Thursday, Jan. 9 in Cloak Theatre.

Production Roles

There are openings for 6 assistant stage managers, a props person, and 2 stage crew members. Introduce yourself to our Production Stage Manager, David Ciotti Hernandez, to discuss available backstage opportunities.

Theatre Interest Meeting

Monday, Jan. 6 | 4:30 p.m.
Cloak Theatre

On the first Monday of each term, the Department of Theatre Arts holds a general meeting for anyone interested in joining us for production opportunities. Learn about auditions for current productions, student projects, and employment options.

This is a great way to reconnect with friends, make new friends, and stay up-to-date with our full slate of opportunities.

At this meeting, you will also hear more about auditions for the 7th Biennial Fred Gaines Student Playwrights Series. We’ll produce 3 one-act plays written by your classmates.

D-Term Activities

Shuttle

The shuttle will run from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday with the exceptions listed on the calendar.

For rides to/from the airport, students must submit a request to 920-419-6793. Rides will be available to/from the Appleton or Green Bay airports.

Athletic Events

  • Basketball games will be held in Alex Gym.
  • Men’s hockey games will be at the Appleton Family Ice Center.
  • Women’s hockey games will be at the Champion Center.

Wellness Center Hours

  • Activities:
    • Monday-Thursday | 7 a.m.-9 p.m.
    • Friday | 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
    • Saturday | 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Free food opportunities

Students are asked to sign up in advance to ensure we have enough food.

Catered meals

Please review the menu from each restaurant to familiarize yourself with the type of food offered. Food will be ordered in large batches, served family style.

Lunches will take place from 12-1 p.m.

  • Monday, 12/9 – Mai’s Deli
  • Thursday, 12/12 – Chipotle
  • Monday, 12/16 – Sai Ram

Community Meals

Sign up for a community meal at Spiritual and Religious Life! You will be part of the preparation and cooking of this meal. Please sign up in advance to ensure we have enough food.

Dinners will take place from 4:30-7 p.m.

  • Thursday, 12/5 – Lemon Cream Gnocchi
  • Wednesday, 12/18 – Chili (meat and vegetarian)

Student Food Pantry

The Student Food Pantry is available to any current student in immediate need or who does not have access to essential items.

Pick-up

  • Friday, 12/13 – 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
  • Wednesday, 12/18 – 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Trivia LX Merch Contest

Attention TriviaMart Shoppers!

This year’s theme has been decided: Supermarket Trivia! With this comes the announcement of our merch contest. We will be taking your designs and putting them on our merch!

Submit original merch designs to greatmidwesttriviacontest@lawrence.edu for a chance to win.

  • Submissions that mention a team in the email will net the creator’s team 5 points (max 1 submission/team that scores points).
  • The top 3 will get a free piece of merch for the creator with their own design.
  • The contest is open until 11:59 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6!

Cultural Dinner

The Cultural Dinner, hosted annually by Lawrence International, celebrates the flavors and traditions of different cultures.

This year’s theme is Korea! Join us for a night of authentic Korean food (first-come, first-served), including gluten free and vegan options. There will also be fun games—Bingo, crosswords, and traditional Korean games—and a chance to win Korean snacks and take home a free gift box!

Everyone is welcome to this unique opportunity to experience Korean culture!

Pumpkin Carving

Get into the Halloween spirit with us as we carve and decorate pumpkins together. Let your creativity run wild and see how spooky your pumpkin turns out!

Grab a pumpkin, decorate it, and take it home for some festive fun. We can’t wait to see what you come up with!
