QPR Suicide Prevention Training Opportunity

Want to Learn How to Save a Life? Get trained in QPR.

QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer—a nationally recognized best-practice for suicide prevention. The purpose of the 1.5 hour “gatekeeper” training session is to provide suicide prevention training and education to Lawrence University faculty, staff, and students.

After taking this training participants will:

  • Know what behaviors and warning signs indicate that someone might be at risk for suicidal behavior
  • Know the risk factors involved in those who attempt or complete suicide
  • Be able to effectively communicate with someone who might be at risk for suicidal behavior
  • Know when it is advisable to (and the procedures for) referring a student to Counseling Services
  • Know how to reach a mental health professional in LU Counseling Services in order to consult about someone who might be at risk for suicidal behavior
  • Learn about local and national resources for suicide prevention, such as the National Suicide Prevention Hotline

Interested in attending a QPR training? There are two upcoming opportunities on our campus:

  • Tuesday, April 4th • 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm • Kraemer Room, Warch Campus Center
  • Wednesday, April 5th • 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm • Kraemer Room, Warch Campus Center
