Upcoming opportunities to connect with alumni and employers

Epic Systems info session: Thursday, Feb. 16

Kurt Krebsbach ’85, associate professor of computer science, and Career Services will host software engineer Rachel Feltes ’16, who will be on campus to answer questions about technical and non-technical positions with Epic Systems Corporation, a global, Wisconsin-based company that builds software for the health care industry.

The session starts at 11 a.m. in the Perille Dining Room (Warch Campus Center 128). Visit LUworks to register.

LU staffers, alums honored in Future 15

Four area young professionals with Lawrence ties are among this year’s Future 15 winners. Pulse Young Professionals Network and the Appleton Post-Crescent announced the 2017 class, which includes:

  • Paris Wicker ’08, associate dean of students for campus programs
  • Elyse Lucas ’10, lecturer of education and art teacher in the Appleton Area School District
  • Fanny Lau ’14, a field organizer with the Democratic Party of Wisconsin
  • Oliver Zornow ’10, community engagement manager for the Building for Kids Children’s Museum and the Fox Valley Symphony Orchestra

The winners will be honored March 2 at the Hortonville Opera House.

Feb. 24: Cultural Competency Lecture Series–Gender

Helen Boyd Kramer, lecturer of gender studies and Freshman Studies, will present Gender in the 21st Century on Feb. 24 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Warch Campus Center’s Pusey Room.

This presentation will cover a variety of gender identities and expressions, including trans, queer and GNC (gender nonconforming) identities, as well as the basics of gender-neutral pronouns, etiquette around transition and non-binary identities, how to create a welcoming and inclusive space for those of all genders, and how sexual orientation does and doesn’t intersect with gender identity and expression.

The Cultural Competency Lecture Series at Lawrence features our faculty, students and staff sharing their expertise related to the knowledge and skills necessary to take a culturally competent, equity-minded approach to the work and learning in which they are engaged at Lawrence. Bring your lunch and learn!
