“Warmer, Wetter, and Wilder”
Northeast Wisconsin’s Changing Climate

Saturday, March 18
9-10 a.m.

Changes to our climate predict warmer temperatures, increased precipitation, and more intense weather in the next few decades. These trends will lead to noticeable changes in the ecology of the Fox-Wolf Watershed and the bay of Green Bay.

Dr. Bart DeStasio, Singleton Professor of Biological Sciences, will guide us through what is known about climate projections in northeast Wisconsin and the many ecological processes that are expected to change.

This virtual program is free of charge to Land Trust members and friends. Pre-registration is not required.

Exploring the Pros and Cons of Cannabis Legalization; 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23

Gov. Tony Evers (D) has recently called for Wisconsin residents to have a “meaningful conversation about treating marijuana much like we do alcohol.” In terms of policy changes, there appears to be more bipartisan agreement for legalizing medical marijuana rather than recreational legalization in Wisconsin. Advocates highlight the economic benefits, while critics see a high potential for abuse and cite safety concerns.

Join us VIRTUALLY for a dialogue that explores these important questions, guided by trained facilitators from Common Ground.

  • Where do you stand?
  • What hopes and concerns do you have about legalization?
  • How do we envision our lives if/when marijuana becomes legal?
  • What are the results from states with early legalization?
  • How should tax revenues be allocated if/when marijuana becomes legal?
