VolunteerFEST

Lawrence University is an important part of the Appleton community! Come learn about how your talents and interests might be needed at area non-profit organizations by attending VolunteerFEST!

This event is being held Tuesday, November 28, 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Waverly Beach, Menasha. Meet with over 50 different local nonprofit organizations to learn how you can give back. Enjoy complimentary hors d’oeuvres and learn how to get started as a volunteer with any of these organizations.

The Volunteer Center of East Central WI will have a 50/50 raffle, free food, door prizes (including cash prizes and a one-week stay at Christmas Mountain in Wisconsin Dells) and much more.

Sign up at Member Services if you want to join the YMCA from November 27 – December 31. Available to all employees. Spouses can also join the YMCA in December for $30

PAE Nominations

President’s Award of Excellence

The President’s Award of Excellence (PAE) recognizes exemplary University staff members for their exceptional support and performance for their Department and the University. Award recipients of the Award of Excellence will receive $1,000 monetary award and a commemorative plaque. Their name will also be added to a perpetual plaque of award recipients that will be displayed in the office of Human Resources in Brokaw Hall. Recipients and their guest will be invited to attend the annual Service Award Luncheon where they will be recognized for their accomplishments.  The award recipient’s supervisor and nominator(s) will also be invited to attend the luncheon.  The President and the PAE Review Committee will select up to two individuals annually for this award.

Criteria:

The PAE Review Committee will carefully consider all nominations, taking into consideration the following criteria:

Support:  Demonstrates above and beyond commitment to the support of the students, staff or faculty.
Stewardship: Demonstrates a high level of care and responsibility for the well-being of the University and its resources for the benefit of our students, staff, and faculty.
Innovation:  Drives innovation, initiative and leadership in the workplace through creative ideas which positively impact the University and/or the surrounding community.
Teamwork:  Works in partnership with others while nurturing an environment of comradery and collaboration.

How to submit:

Complete the Nomination Form describing how the nominee demonstrates the above listed criteria, not to exceed three typed pages, by November 17, 2017.  When completed with the nomination form, you will need to select “file”, “save as” and save to desktop or personal folder.  The form can be submitted via one of the following methods:

Meditation – Last scheduled session of the term

Meditation – Last scheduled session of the term

Although the Meditation Room at Center for SRL and can be reserved or used for drop-in when there is a need for a quiet space, the last scheduled meditation with Connie Kassor will be on Wednesday, November 15th at 4:30pm.  Please look again for the scheduled meditation in the Winter term 2018 which will continue at the same time and day, 4:30pm on Wednesdays during weeks one through ten.

Students staff and faculty are welcome to visit the Center for SRL and the Meditation Room during break times.

Taizé – New Day

Taizé – New Day
The last Taizé service for the fall term has been changed to Wednesday,
November 15th.
The time and location remain the same.  7:30pm at the Center for Spiritual and Religious Life.

This ecumenical service of prayer, silence, song and chant is a great way to lead yourself into the final weeks before break.  Taizé and the partnership with All Saints Episcopal Church will return again in the Winter term.  Stay posted to the LU Spirit Space Facebook Page and the Office of SRL webpage for dates and times.
