Free December YMCA Membership for Employees

December is a great time to try the YMCA; Lawrence employees can enjoy a free membership Dec. 1-31!

Bring your LU ID to the Downtown YMCA and sign up. You can add dependents or spouses for just $12 each. Your membership is also good at the Fox Valley area YMCAs.

LU Mind Spas Scavenger Hunt

The Mind Spas on campus are newly updated! Check them out and enter a drawing for a free Fitbit Inspire!

Here’s how you can participate:

  • Visit a Mind Spa, take a selfie of you there, and submit it online.
  • For each Mind Spa you visit, your name will be entered into the drawing for the Fitbit (total of 5 entries).
  • Submit your entries by Nov. 20!

  • The Wellness Center
  • 4th floor Sage
  • Kohler basement
  • Plantz basement
  • Con practice room

Fall WELLU Massage sign up

Wellness Services is pleased to offer subsidized full-body therapeutic massage services for fall term.

Appointments are available for 50 minutes and cost $30 on campus and at the YMCA.

Massages are available for all students and employees.

You must sign up to be eligible for the discounted price. E-mail Wellnessservices@lawrence.edu or  Erin Buenzli to schedule an appointment. Limit one per term.

Exciting News! Try the incredible Y for FREE during the entire month of July at all YMCA of the Fox Cities locations!

We understand the importance of staying active and healthy, having a place you belong, and being part of a supportive fitness community. To try the Y in July, simply visit any YMCA of the Fox Cities locations, mention this offer, and enjoy unlimited access to our fantastic facilities, classes and expert guidance for the entire month of July.

LU Health and Wellness Survey

Want a chance to win a $50 Amazon gift card or LU Gear?

Click on the link in your LU email from the Health and Wellness Survey. The survey is anonymous and gives LU a chance to assess the health and well-being of our students to increase support.

Programming throughout the month of April is dedicated to prevention, education, and awareness of sexual violence.  Below is a list of ways that you may participate, contribute, and/or learn about the initiatives on our campus; check it out and when you participate, tag us @SHARE_Lawrence and use the #LUsaam2023.

This event is intended to raise awareness about victim/survivor advocate services and to foster discussion about how to best support victims/survivors of sexual violence/assault/abuse. Learn about the role of a victim/survivor advocate from different agencies around the Fox Cities.

April 6 – Time with Title IX
WCC Kraemer – 12-1:00 p.m.
Learn about Title IX: Past, Present, & Future and Title IX on LU’s campus as it stands today. Walk away with resources.

April 20 – Dr. Tommy Curry Talk
WCC Cinema – 7-8:30 p.m.
Tommy J. Curry is a Professor of Philosophy and holds the Personal Chair of African Philosophy and Black Male Studies at the University of Edinburgh. His research interests are 19th century ethnology, Critical Race Theory, and Black Male Studies. He is the author of The Man-Not: Race, Class, Genre, and the Dilemmas of Black Manhood.

April 25 – Bystander Training
WCC Kraemer – 8 p.m.
Learn how to be an active bystander. The training teaches how bystanders can interrupt harm-doing and generate positive actions by others through education and empowerment.

April 26 – Denim Day Tabling

Wear your denim and stop by the table to find more sexual assault resources, make a hand for healing pledge, and pick up your candle to participate in the vigil later this evening.

April 26 – Shine a Light on Sexual Violence Candlelight Vigil
Meet at Brokaw Hall for a candle, moment of silent, and start of walk about campus.

April 27 – This Anti Trans Moment – Resisting the Right and the Center: Paisley Currah Talk
Wriston Auditorium – 5-7 p.m.
Paisley Currah is a Professor of Political Science and Women’s & Gender Studies at Brooklyn College and the Graduate Center of CUNY. Currah has written widely on transgender issues. He is the the co-founder of the leading journal in transgender studies, Transgender Studies Quarterly. Currah’s book, Sex Is as Sex Does: Governing Transgender Identity, was published in May 2022. Currah has advocated for transgender rights at all levels of government. He was a founding board member of the Transgender Law and Policy Institute, served on the founding board of directors of Global Action for Trans Equality, and sat on the advisory board of Human Rights Watch’s LGBT Program.

Take our campaign virtual! Use the templates on the National Sexual Violence Resource Center website and tag #LUsaam2023. Follow along on Instagram as @SHARE_Lawrence participates in the #30daysofSAAM Instagram Challenge.

If you need help or support related to experiencing sexual assault or another form of gender-based misconduct, you can find a full list on our on and off-campus resources for private and confidential resources on the Lawrence website.

You can report instances of sexual assault as well as any other form of gender-based misconduct to the Title IX Office. The reports are received by the Title IX Coordinator. When the report is received, the coordinator will follow up with you.

Join Wellness on March 31 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. for a Step Into Spring event. Learn more about our 2-week movement initiative, get a free pedometer, snacks, and information about our programs.
