The Pitch presented by The Fox Connection for Creative Entrepreneurship

The Fox Connection is a collaboration of the premier academic institutions in northeast Wisconsin to enhance entrepreneurial education and opportunity for area students. Member institutions include Lawrence University, St. Norbert College, UW-Green Bay, and UW-Oshkosh.

On May 3, 2017, finalists from each school will pitch their ideas to a panel of judges and to an audience of area students, community members, business leaders, entrepreneurs, and investors.

4th Women & Identities in Gaming Symposium

The 4th Women and Identities in Gaming Symposium will take place on Saturday, April 15th in the Warch Campus Center Cinema.

This year, we’re excited to welcome Josh Sawyer, Lawrence alumnus and Director at Obsidian Entertainment (makers of Fallout: New Vegas, Pillars of Eternity, and more). At 1:00 p.m., Sawyer will present,”Better is Not Enough,” followed by a Q&A. In his presentation, Sawyer will discuss allyship in game development and community, as well as working in the games industry.

At 2:30, a panel featuring guest game design and programming students from Columbia College in Chicago along with Lawrence’s Professor Dan Proctor and current Lawrence students, will discuss various aspects of gender and identity in games and the gaming community.

State of Wisconsin Visit, April 13th

Jennifer Zschernitz, Senior Executive Equal Opportunity Specialist with the State of Wisconsin will show you how to masterfully maneuver the state job application process.  The Info Table at 11:00 a.m. near the mailboxes in Warch will be followed by an Info Session at noon in the Kraemer room.  Sign up in LUworks for 1:1 chats in Career Services from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Cultural Competency Lecture Series – Religion & Spirituality

Linda Morgan-Clement, Julie Esch Hurvis Dean of Spiritual and Religious Life, and Martyn Smith, Associate Professor of Religious Studies, will present Imagine More on April 28 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Warch Campus Center’s Esch Hurvis Room.

John Lennon may have imagined that a world without nations, heaven, hell, possessions, and religion would be a world of peace. While many of us resonate with his longing for world peace, the majority of the global population cannot imagine peace without religion and spiritual practice. Lawrence University has made a commitment to recognize, support and nurture individual and collective spiritual practice and religious life as a part of our holistic education.  This lecture/dialogue invites participants to discuss ways to utilize our diverse commitments and spiritual practices to imagine more than a world without this essential component of many cultures and communities.

The Cultural Competency Lecture Series at Lawrence features our faculty, students and staff sharing their expertise related to the knowledge and skills necessary to take a culturally competent, equity-minded approach to the work and learning in which they are engaged at Lawrence. Bring your lunch and learn!
