Without alumni, life *socks*

There have been so many great efforts made by alumni to support our community in this unprecedented time. As the ACE office, we want to make sure they know we appreciate them. If you are a faculty member and an alum is adding value to your new distance learning curriculum or a staff member or student who has been helped by an alum in an impactful way, please fill out our form below! We want to send them a gift.

They may not be able to join us physically on campus, but we can send a little LU spirit to them. Please help us give them a proper thank you by letting the Alumni Office know.

Fill out the form here.

Last year we thanked more than 34 alumni guest speakers on campus.

SAP Nominations

Hello Faculty and Staff,

The Lawrence University Student Ambassador Program (SAP) is looking to receive new membership for this upcoming year. Please help us by nominating any student, not including departing seniors, who seeks to promote Lawrence pride and philanthropy with the purpose of making the lasting Lawrence experience better for past, present, and future Lawrentians. The Student Ambassador Program seeks to inform the student body of the impact personal donations have on their Lawrence experience, with the ultimate goal of helping students with their eventual transition into active alumni after graduation. Our outreach to the student body involves working on different events throughout the year that are focused on raising awareness of philanthropy’s impact on Lawrence and connecting current students with alumni. Our mission is as follows:

The Student Ambassador Program (SAP) bridges the gap between students and alumni, spreading awareness of philanthropy’s impact in order to instill gratitude and lasting Lawrence pride.

SAP strives to be the voice of the student body by discussing opportunities of connection between alumni and the campus. Through our programs and events, SAP pushes for a more conscious and caring Lawrence that gives, lives, and learns as a community.

Please reply to SAP Advisor Kate Allison kate.a.allison@lawrence.edu and Emily McFarland emily.l.mcfarland@lawrence.edu with your nominations by February 11th. Thank you for all of your help!

Best, Emily McFarland ’22, SAP President

Thank you, Janice Staedt!

Janice Staedt, otherwise known as the rock, the glue, organized, efficient, detailed, collaborative, amazing to the core. Well, after 12 glorious years, she is about to add another one to the list – RETIRED!  She will log out of Banner for the final time on Friday, January 10. While it might be difficult to imagine a Lawrence without Janice, it is not at all difficult to celebrate the impact she has made.  She has touched nearly every corner of campus through her work in alumni and donor engagement.  Suffice it to say, she has earned a more relaxed approach to life, enjoying bike rides with her husband, more time in Arizona and bottomless cactus juice cocktails.

To celebrate all things Janice, we will be hosting a Janice Jubilee on Thursday, January 9 from 4-6 p.m. in the Viking Room. Bon Appetit will provide some treats and a cash bar will be available.  Join us for the fun!

Parking Lots to Avoid Friday, October 18

Tomorrow, October 18, Lawrence will be hosting Microsoft President Brad Smith for a community conversation about this new book, Tools and Weapons: The Promise and Peril of the Digital Age.  With nearly 450 alumni, community members, faculty, staff and students expected to fill every seat in Stansbury Theatre, we are asking for your help rolling out the blue carpet for our guests.  Please refrain from parking in the following lots on Friday morning:

·         Shattuck

·         Music-Drama Center

·         Chapel

·         Faculty/staff lot on the SW corner of Lawe and Washington

The forecast is calling for 57 and partly cloudy skies – a perfect fall morning for a nice walk or bike ride across campus!

How Did I Get Here? Alumni Lunch with Darcy Kind ’97
