Come together for Welcome Arch reveal today; President’s Welcome on Tuesday

The Welcome Arch, a gorgeous landmark that will serve as a visible entryway to the Lawrence campus, is ready for its debut.

The campus community is invited to join in celebration as we reveal the arch for the first time — the Welcome Arch Reveal is today from 4 to 4:30 p.m. at the corner of College Avenue and Drew Street.

Next week, all students, staff, and faculty are also encouraged to greet the Class of 2026 at the arch. The Welcome Arch Ribbon Cutting and President’s Welcome is Tuesday, Sept. 6 from 4:15 to 5:30 p.m. We will again meet at the Welcome Arch at the corner of College Avenue and Drew Street where the Class of 2026 will be the first to process through the arch as they launch their Lawrence journeys. Following this new tradition, we will formally celebrate these new students with our annual President’s Welcome from the steps of Main Hall.

First-year students will be moving in on Monday, followed by a full week of orientation. Find details here.

Meet our new faculty

You are cordially invited to attend a Meet and Greet for new faculty on August 30 from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m. in the Wriston Art Center Lobby.

Guests can also move to the amphitheater outside if weather permits. Appetizers and (adult) beverages will be served.

See more information here on the three new tenure-track faculty.

Please don’t miss this opportunity to welcome your new colleagues to campus.

Personal Health Assessment (PHA) – Save the Date

Returning in the fall of 2022, Lawrence will be continuing Personal Health Assessments. The PHA process is part of a large initiative to assist participants in managing their health and wellness. ThedaCare will again utilize a finger stick blood collection as opposed to an arm draw. This process is less invasive and gives instant results.

Upon completion of the PHA, participants will receive a personalized report to help better understand how your lifestyle habits affect your overall health.  Participants will be able to log in to the Wellworks site to complete the questionnaire, sign up for their onsite screening, and to view their results. Your results of the biometric and lifestyle scoring are confidential.  Participation in the PHA process is open to all staff and faculty employees and all spouses/domestic partners on the Lawrence University medical plan.

Assessment days are as follows:

If you or your spouse/domestic partner who is covered under the medical plan have any concerns regarding availability during the available assessment days, please contact your HR Representative to discuss participation options.

U. S. News & World Report data collection

We may need your help! The U. S. News & World Report (USNWR) data collection opened this week.  The USNWR Rankings (that you may be hearing about more often these days) are released each fall and are based on three surveys in this collection:  Main, Finance, and Financial Aid.

The Office of Research Administration (ORA) will be working diligently over the next few weeks to collect the data needing to be entered and submitted in these surveys.  If Kristin McKinley or Sarah Dunnagan has contacted you in the past (or you recently took over a role contacted in the past) about survey questions pertaining to your area, we will again be reaching out to you as soon as possible for confirmation of rolled-over or updated responses.  As in previous years, we will likely request a less than two week turn-around time for your answers.  This is necessary because we need time to not only complete the 147-page Main Survey but the institution’s designated administrators also need sufficient time to review and approve the surveys prior to the June 1st submission deadline.

Thank you in advance for your expertise and help in this collaborative effort!
