You may have noticed the addition of the new trash and recycling receptacles around campus. These bins were purchased as part of a sustainability initiative to create a uniform look for trash and recycling disposal on campus to reduce confusion and contamination. The results of a pilot program in Youngchild Hall from Term II of the 2017-18 school year informed us that installing these bins reduced the amount of recyclable material in the trash from 26% before the pilot to 7% after the pilot.

Since we will be replacing the many small bins in each building with these larger receptacles it may take some adjustment to find the correct bin locations in each building. Your patience is appreciated as we work to make this change on campus. If you have any questions or would like to make a location suggestion in a specific building or area, please reach out to Kelsey McCormick at kelsey.m.mccormick@lawrence.edu.

Payment due on day of pick up and all bikes must be picked up by Thursday, July 12 no later than 3 PM. All unclaimed bikes will be awarded to the next highest bidder.

A Message from Dan Meyer

Please see the below message from Dan Meyer, Director of Facility Services:

After 12 years at Lawrence, two as the Energy Engineer and ten as the Director of Facilities Services, I am planning to reduce my hours to half time in January 2019 and retire fully around July 2019. I will be assisting in the transition to a new director and will then oversee energy initiatives during the next 12 months.

Thank you for all of the support and encouragement to me and the Facility Services staff throughout the past 12 years. The entire Facility Services team and I take great pride in our work and our ability to make improvements and keep things running on a daily basis.

Friendship Family Recruitment

The International Student Services office is now recruiting new families for the Friendship Family program. The program is voluntary and designed to supplement international students’ academic experience by getting them off campus and into our community. We will connect families with international students who want to be connected with local families. As we publicize the recruitment to the Appleton public, we want the Lawrence faculty and staff to consider being part of the program too!
