Off-Campus Programs Virtual Fair Continues through October!

The Off-Campus Programs Virtual Fair is off to a great start! If you have missed some of our earlier programming, don’t worry. There is still time to participate! Programs continue throughout October and include information on study abroad to India, Jordan, Morocco, Costa Rica, Tanzania, The Netherlands, Ireland, Italy, and more! If you prefer to explore U.S.-based opportunities, we have programs in Tennessee, Minnesota, and Chicago you can check out.

These virtual fair presentations are hosted by Off-Campus Programs but feature the program providers themselves. They are a great opportunity to get your questions answered.

For a full schedule of Virtual Fair programs, go to our Virtual Fair page or the Lawrence University Events Calendar. To request Zoom details for any program, fill out our OCP Virtual Fair Registration Form. If you have any questions, contact offcampusprograms@lawrence.edu.

Seeking Faculty, Staff and Student volunteers to escort people to the Polls on November 3rd

Helping people get to polling locations on election day is critical for increasing voter engagement.  We are seeking Lawrence Community members to volunteer on November 3rd to walk with students to the campus polling location, which is just a few blocks from campus at Memorial Presbyterian Church, 803 E. College Ave.

If you are able to volunteer to be on campus between 7am and 8pm on November 3rd please email curt.lauderdale@lawrence.eduwith your name and the times you would be available to walk with student to the polls.  A schedule will then be developed and shared with the volunteers and student voters.

Reminder to Get Registered to Vote!

Lawrence is trying to make that process as seamless as possible for students living on campus. Lawrence voter ID cards are available free of charge in the Warch Campus Center and the University has already provided a certified housing list to the Appleton city clerk’s office. A voter registration table is set up in Warch from now through Oct. 13, allowing students to get their voter ID card and fill out a voter registration form all at the same time. Those forms will then be collected and delivered to the city clerk’s office. It doesn’t get any easier than that.

Information on voter registration in Wisconsin, including a registration form, can be found at https://myvote.wi.gov/en-us/. If you can’t register at Warch, these are your options:

Register in person at city clerk’s office: It’s located in City Hall, on the west end of City Centre. The office is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Deadline is Oct. 30. You’ll need your voter ID card.

Register at the polls on Nov. 3: You’ll need proof of residence as well as your photo ID (this will be provided by Lawrence for students living on campus). Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Register by mail: You can send your completed and signed registration form along with proof of residence to the Appleton city clerk’s office, 100 N. Appleton Street, Appleton WI 54911, as long as it is postmarked by Oct. 14.

Register online: Go to https://myvote.wi.gov/en-us/. Deadline is Oct. 14.

More information about voting in Appleton can be found here.

If you registered to vote in a previous year, you’re encouraged to check your registration status at https://myvote.wi.gov/en-us/. If you’ve changed residence halls on campus since spring, you need to re-register. And when registering to vote, you will need to know the physical address of your campus housing. You can find campus addresses here.

What’s new in dining?

Lots! Bon Appetit continues to add items to the menu in both Andrew Commons and The Café.  Andrew Commons now offers house made salad dressings, local apples and pears from Sprangers Orchard (local) and vegan pizza.  Beginning on Friday October 2nd, two new items will be added to The Café menu – a buffalo chicken wrap and a Boca burger.  In response to the informal student survey being done in the C store, new items will be added there as well.

And that’s not all! Look for limited in person dining soon and the return of clamshells (new students will be receiving their free one very soon).
