As was shared with the campus earlier in May, students who are currently residing on campus had the opportunity to request to stay on campus if extenuating circumstances did not allow them to return to off-campus homes or residences. Students who are currently residing off-campus during spring term also had the opportunity to petition to return to campus early if they face extenuating circumstances.
As of today (Thursday, May 28), 110 students will reside on campus over the summer, including 9 students who are returning to campus. We will continue to follow physical distancing guidelines in student residences over the summer, and we are closely working with students who are returning to campus on a safe transition back to Lawrence. Following safety protocols and guidelines, students coming back to campus will be required to quarantine for 14 days before they can move into residence halls.
Any questions regarding summer housing should be sent to deanofstudents@lawrence.edu.

SWC has provided an alternative to the shopping shuttle for the students on campus this term, in an effort to minimize potential expose to COVID-19.
The Faculty/staff and student shopping program Is for students that have the monetary means to buy groceries, but no safe way to get to the store to buy them. It is serving as a replacement to the shopping shuttle. While the Student Food Pantry remains a resource for low income students staying on campus, we would also like to extend support to students who are able to afford to purchase food and supplies but are unable to get off campus. The idea behind this is to prevent an unnecessary strain on the Student Pantry from students who don’t NEED the resource, while still providing a relatively safe alternative.
Students will be matched with a faculty/staff member based on the survey results as best as we can match them up. Though we request information, the final details of payment method and when the shopping will take place. Students should not be shopping with the faculty/staff member, and instead should be providing them with a list of items in some form (details to be worked out by the individual student and faculty/staff member).

This program will be run by the Student Welfare Committee. Responses will only be shared with the Lead SWC Shopping Shuttle Driver (Elliott Marsh), Dean of the Sophomore Class/Associate Dean of Students and Advisor to Student Welfare Committee (Rose Wasielewski), and the SWC Chair (Sterling Clarke Ambrosius).

Lawrence University is still managing several funds to help Lawrentians who have incurred extraordinary or unplanned expenses in the wake of campus disruptions brought on by the pandemic.
Grants can be used for eligible expenses under a student’s cots of attendance, including food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, and childcare.
Grants are available to all Lawrentians, regardless of citizenship status.
To formally request funds, please complete this form.
Applications for the emergency grant will be reviewed on a rolling basis until funds have been spent. Due to limited funding, we recommend that students apply immediately.
Greetings from across the pond! Spring 2020 at the Lawrence University London Centre (LULC) looks quite different without a cohort of Lawrence students living and learning with us, and we miss you all as much as you miss being here! And, that is why we want to invite you to connect with us this May with some fun activities and live discussions!
All are welcome! Whether you are an LULC alumnus, planned to study at the London Centre this spring, are looking forward to studying here in the future, or are even just interested in learning more about the London Centre or British culture in general, join us as we greet friends old and new and celebrate all things British! Discussions will be conducted via Zoom.
Whether you want to learn more about British culture or just connect – or reconnect – with fellow London Centre friends, take a look at what is happening this month:
For more information and how to connect, go to our London Centre webpage.
Saturday is NOODLE NIGHT! Even if you didn’t order noodle delivery (the deadline was Tuesday), please join us for Pictionary and a movie (maybe even bring your own noodles?) on Zoom at https://lawrence.zoom.us/j/91856075912 this Saturday night starting at 6 PM CST.
Brought to you by the Diversity and Intercultural Center, International Student Services, Residential Education & Housing, and Student Activities and Virtual Programming.
Thanks to the 367 students who already participated in the HEDS COVID-19 Student Survey (that’s a response rate of 27.2%)! Our office compiled some initial findings and began sharing those with key people on campus.
We want to hear how you are doing and advocate on your behalf. There is still time to give feedback. A reminder email was sent yesterday (Subject Line – Reminder: Lawrence wants to hear how you’re doing during the pandemic ) and another one will be sent on May 8th (Subject Line – Final reminder: Lawrence’s COVID-19 Student Survey). The survey will close May 11th at 11:59 EST.
Take care,
Kristin McKinley, Director of Research Administration
