All-Staff Meeting: Minutes/Recording + Survey

Thank you to those who attended the Winter All-Staff Meeting on March 4! For those who were unable to attend, the meeting minutes and Zoom recording may be found on the Staff Connections Past Meetings webpage. Unaddressed questions and concerns were compiled and sent to President Burstein, whose responses will be posted on the same page.

Staff Connections is seeking feedback to improve future meetings and staff communication. Please submit your concerns and suggestions via our anonymous survey.

We look forward to sharing our Spring All-Staff Meeting with you on Tuesday, May 25, 9-10 a.m. via Zoom.

Employee Mindfulness Workshop: March 16

As a reminder, the Employee Mindfulness Workshop will take place this upcoming Tuesday, March 16, 11:30-12:00 p.m. via Zoom. Join Staff Connections and Sara Curtis and Corynn Stoltenberg from Wellness Services as they offer ways for staff and faculty to release tension, nurture themselves, and return to the wisdom of the body through simple guided exercises and open discussion.

The Zoom link may be found on the Staff Connections Upcoming Events page. The workshop will be recorded and posted on the Past Meetings page for those unable to attend and those who wish to revisit the exercises.

Employee Mindfulness Workshop

There is so much coming at us right now: many of us spend our days sitting in front of computers as talking heads on Zoom, which means that much of what we’re taking in is being held in our bodies as tension. With fewer opportunities to move our bodies, congregate, and do other things that release stress and make us feel vital, the tension can become chronic and lead to poorer mental health outcomes. However, when we tune into our felt sense and learn to relax and come home to our bodies, we can begin to process and move through the many difficult emotions and even trauma we’ve otherwise been unable to process through intellect alone. 

Staff Connections is excited to partner with Wellness Services to hold an Employee Mindfulness Workshop! Sara Curtis and Corynn Stoltenberg will offer ways for staff and faculty to release tension, nurture themselves, and return to the wisdom of the body through simple guided exercises and open discussion.

This event will take place Tuesday, March 16, 11:30-12:00 p.m. via Zoom. The Zoom link may be found on the Staff Connections Upcoming Events page. The workshop will be recorded and posted on the Past Meetings page for those unable to attend and those who wish to revisit the exercises.

All Staff Meeting: Agenda + Staff Questions

The agenda and Zoom link for the Winter All Staff Meeting on Thursday, March 4, 9:00-10:00 a.m. can be found on the Staff Connections – Upcoming Meetings webpage.

We are still accepting staff feedback and questions for senior leadership via our anonymous form, which will close the morning of March 3 to allow us time to prepare. During the meeting, staff also will be able to submit questions at any time via the chat.

As a reminder, the meeting will be recorded and posted here in the meeting minutes for those unable to attend.

All Staff Meeting Updates + Survey

Due a scheduling conflict, the winter and spring All Staff Meetings have been rescheduled. The following updated dates will allow us to share important information from the upcoming board meetings:

  • Winter All Staff Meeting: Thursday, March 4, 9-10 a.m.
  • Spring All Staff Meeting: Tuesday, May 25, 9-10 a.m.

These dates also are posted in the LU Event Calendar as well as on the Staff Connections page, where we will post the Zoom links and meeting agendas.

All Staff Meeting agendas are determined based on staff interest, and we rely on your feedback to ensure purposeful and productive meetings. We invite you to submit your feedback and questions via our anonymous survey. If you have additional concerns, please email us at staff_connection@lawrence.edu.

Please be on the lookout for additional (and exciting!) updates from the Staff Connections Committee in the near future.

LU Apparel Sale

The long-anticipated Lawrence apparel sale is now live! In partnership with Eagle Graphics, the Staff Connections Committee put together an online store of business casual clothing so you can show your Lawrence pride in the office and out.

The store is now open and can be accessed via this link through November 25, 2020: https://lawrenceuniv20.itemorder.com/sale

Items should be delivered before the holiday season.

We welcome you to contact us at staff_connection@lawrence.edu with item suggestions or feedback. If there is enough demand, we may reopen the store in the spring.

Staff Finance Meeting Minutes and Recording

We had approximately 125 staff members attend our Staff Finance Meeting with Mary Alma Noonan and Mark Burstein last Friday. Thank you, everyone, for not only attending the webinar but also in helping the Staff Connections Committee shape it via your feedback. We hope to hold similar discussion sessions in the future; please watch the LU Insider for more information.

Presidential Search: Staff Feedback Requested

The Staff Connections Committee co-chairs have been invited to a meeting on October 30 with Isaacson, Miller, the team conducting the search for Lawrence’s next President. They are seeking staff input on what they should be focusing on in their search for candidates.

To best represent staff interest and concerns, we are asking for your feedback no later than Thursday, October 29 at noon. Please let us know which qualities and qualifications you believe are most important in a candidate as well as any questions or concerns you’d like us to address with the team. You may write to us directly at staff_connection@lawrence.edu or submit a form here: https://forms.gle/ayqNfUHjNdcumcdf6 (no name/email required). Please note that submissions via either method will be kept anonymous.
