Reminder – DEI Peer Educators Only Available the Fall Term!

This is a reminder that the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion currently has peer diversity educators who are available during the fall term to talk with student organizations, groups, and classes regarding antiracism and allyship. Our goal is to be willing to listen, engage and learn respectfully with and from each other. Join us!

Details for the workshops are below:

The antiracism workshop is a one-hour session intended to help participants better understand the concepts of race and racism, discuss the consequences of systemic racism and help participants consider committing to a daily practice of antiracism.

The allyship workshop is a one-hour session intended to provide better understanding of the active process of allyship, discuss how we each can use our power to support marginalized folks and to help participants consider committing to a daily practice of allyship.

Don’t miss out on this opportunity! To arrange a workshop or presentation please contact Cindy Pickart (cindy.j.pickart@lawrence.edu).

Strategies for classroom observations (for observers and observees) with Professor Chloe Armstrong

On Tuesday, November 9, 2021, from 4:30-5:30PM via Zoom, Professor Armstrong (Philosophy) will give a 25-minute presentation on strategies that serve a range of goals, including the modeling of new pedagogical innovations, data collection on experimental teaching, and new practices, revising current practices, peer-to-peer observations, self-observations using recorded materials from remote course content, and classroom observations that may serve in the promotion and reappointment process.

After the presentation, she will host a 30-minute question and answer (not recorded) session. An RSVP is encouraged but everyone is warmly welcome regardless!

An Invitation to Deepen Together

The Center for Spiritual and Religious Life invites you to join us in three spiritual practices that will help our community be Brighter Together.

In the Conservatory lower level, you will find a table set up with materials to help students, staff, and faculty cultivate gratitude, prayer, and reflection through writing thank you cards, adding to a prayer wall, and journaling in a complimentary journal for you to take with you. This station will be available until Friday, November 5th and will then shift to the Warch Campus Center for the remainder of the term.

If you, your club, your department, or team are interested in hosting a display in your space, please email spiritual.religious.life@lawrence.edu and we will happily send you a kit that includes all supplies.

In the last week of the term, we will host a prayer wall burning ceremony. More details in the coming weeks.
